AT&T In-Car Wifi Testing – Steven Strouble

AT&T In-Car Wifi Testing

User testing campaigns for AT&T in-car wifi plans.

Info

User testing to evaluate the experience of signing up for in-car wifi plans.

When customers purchase wifi-enabled vehicles, one of the key factors to winning business for AT&T in-car wifi is ensuring that customers have a seamless experience signing up for and purchasing data plans. Most often, the initial touchpoint for this activity will occur via a phone while sitting within the vehicle.

Brief

User tests were setup for both mobile in-car data plan sign-up, as well as desktop plan sign up.

For this project, two sets of unmoderated user tests were launched via usertesting.com, one for mobile and one for desktop. This team did not have a set of personas established, and due to time constraints, I was not afforded the time to develop personas for the team, so general automotive and tech-based consumer research was utilized to determine the target demographics for these rounds of user testing.

What Next?

Testing the test, then testing the platform.

I began with 4 participants, 2 for mobile and 2 for desktop, so that we could validate the readiness of the test environment and the clarity of test instructions for the test participants. Once these initial tests were concluded and adjustments were made as necessary, the test was opened up to the remainder of participants.

Once testing was completed, I reviewed all of the recorded videos of tests, quantifying successes and failures, documenting the qualitative points of specific interest, and creating a final executive report to be delivered to the product team.
